Mr. Villanueva also talked about how SMART Communications has created strategies to maximize the use of mobile phones by developing payment strategies in cooperation with various banking entities, and government and private institutions. Some of the recent and notable initiative programs of SMART e-Money include: the mobile cash transfer deployment in calamity stricken areas, CCT (Conditional Cash Transfer) cash grant disbursement in places beyond the reach of ATMs or payout centers, mobile-based prepaid electricity top-up, load as P2G payment of frontline government services, mobile-based incentivized credit, livelihood and savings-linked CCT program called Panalo SIKAP (Sa Ipon at Kabuhayan Aahon ka Pinoy), card protection through the “Lock by Mobile” system, and others.
