BMAP takes a look at Generation Y

BMAP members were given a glimpse into the world of teenagers and some ideas on how to reach them with MTV Philippines’ Jack Madrid at the March 29, 2006 General Membership meeting at Milky Way Café.

Today’s kids are smarter, more creative & more perceptive. The usual marketing & communications techniques will be challenged when it comes to “Generation Y.” Madrid, also a former banker, also said that relevance, personalization and interactivity are important in reaching Filipino youth.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas also made their pitch anew for the Coin Recirculation Campaign. Gracing the occasion were BSP’s Roberto T. Syquia, Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs Office and Arnel Adrian C. Salva, Bank Officer IV, Corporate Affairs Office who said that on the average, each Filipino has 146 coins in his/her possession, practically thrice the average in Asia. Ironically, there is still a perceived coin shortage especially for the low denomination coins. This is the Rationale behind the campaign.

BMAP members were encouraged to support the program in their own banks and even come up with their own campaigns to support the Recirculation program and help address the country’s coin shortage.

Coin-Philippines Marketing representatives were also on-hand to display their innovative “coin-tainers,” “coin banks,” “cash boxes,” and “coin-tainer loaders” – coin handling devices that can simplify & organize one’s loose change. Coin-Phil Marketing said the “coin-tainers” could also be used as member banks’ giveaways, perfect for supporting the Recirculation program.
